Charging Your Volvo in Washington D.C.

With so many options available when it comes to charging your plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle (EV), going electric has never been easier. We have over a dozen public charging stations, including ChargePoint stations, all around our dealership in Fairfax. These are all a part of our nationwide network of charging stations that make it possible for EV drivers to take road trips across the country without a single drop of gas.

Volvo's partnership with ChargePoint and Qmerit makes it possible for you to easily charge your Volvo electric car at home or on the road. When you purchase a new Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUV or one of our other plug-in hybrid luxury SUVs, we can get you set up with professional installation for a Level 2 charger. We recommend the ChargePoint station because they are so much faster than just plugging into your regular wall outlet and will give you more flexibility when you don't have to charge as long.

As cities like Chantilly, Springfield, and Woodbridge continue to invest in electric cars and charging stations, there is still time to take advantage of all the incentives that come with saying goodbye to gas and oil changes forever. Not only will an electric vehicle save you at the pump, but you will also save over time on maintenance because electric vehicles have fewer components to keep up with on a regular basis. Take advantage of tax savings and discounts on home installation for home charging and the electric vehicle itself.

Home Charging and Installation Around Washington D.C.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, most electric car drivers do more than 80-percent of their car charging at home. Charging in your own garage or household outlet is usually the most cost-effective way to charge your vehicle. Residential electricity rates are usually lower at nighttime which is when you would be charging your vehicle, especially if you have a Level 1 charger. A Level 1 charger provides charging through a regular 120 volt AC plug and adds about two to five miles per hour of charging. A Level 2 charger is much faster because it uses a 240-volt AC plug and adds 10-60-miles per hour. For your convenience, it might be worth it to upgrade to a Level 2 charger and take advantage of special incentives that can make the professional installation free or low-cost.
